Finding ways to heal ourselves from emotional pain

All people suffer from the pain of life in varying ways. We often carry these pains of suffering around like emotional weights tied to our necks. In time the pain has to be alleviated and released. The release of pain in our hearts is best removed through the simple and random things we do for others in which we seek no return of gesture. A bird can never get far off the ground when it is carrying a load it can not bear..we humans are the same way..letting go of those things that hold us down, keep us from flying, moving and rising to be a better person is key to our healing..

Random and anonymous acts of kindness

There are many ways we can do these things to lighten the woes of our own scars. We can do kind things that are anonymous and with the intent to bring joy, love or benefit to another. We can tend to our gardens and plant trees for each milestone we cross in our lives. Giving of ourselves freely, brings joy, peace and nourishment to our souls. When this happens our pains are lessened, and the positive of our actions counter balances the negatives of our pain.
Forgiveness

Forgiveness plays a significant role in our ability to reverse the negatives we have attached to our emotional wounds. We must remember that forgiveness is for your benefit above all else. It cuts the ties that bind your pain and frees your heart to love again. Do not consider forgiving as a "favor" to your enemies but rather a means to heal yourself of the negative feelings you have attached to them. These harm no one but you in the long run.

Share your knowledge

So many times our best gift to the world entire is our knowledge. Taking time to share your insights, reaching out to those that may need it of you is a beautiful and easy gesture. It also is a kind way to offer help to others. When we shift our focus off of ourselves, we can grow to be a better person than we are when we sink into our worlds. It is never good to be trapped in our own world, because the isolation, exclusion and tendency to stop caring for others generates loneliness, which kills the spirit, weakens the soul and leads to despair.

Letting go

We have to do it. In essence letting go is the partner to forgiveness. Let go of old wrongs from yesterday for they serve no positive purpose in  your life now. Don't fear you will learn the lesson from the experience for the lesson may be to "let go." We have no luxury of unlimited time to gain our lessons and to emerge a better person, so let that which serves no purpose in your life "go." Holding on to grudges, anger, and even negative memories only keep us trapped in our own hearts. They become obstacles we can not overcome. They own us, and therefore control who we are, or destined to become. This may not be an easy process, but the commitment to "try" every day to let go that which serves no purpose in your heart is the most important part. In time you will expand on that list and train yourself the virtues of this practice.

Find creative outlets

Creativity is a therapeutic and rewarding undertaking. It again shifts ones focus, allows for imagination to flourish, and calms the mind of negative energy. Where creativity is occurring it is hard for negative thought to take hold, and even negative thoughts can be transformed into a healthy perspective through the use of creative efforts. Creative projects lets us transfer our energies. Speaking for us, when we may not be able to release what we feel.

Be inspired

If you take the time to look, you will find there is inspiration everywhere. Are you feeding your mind the images, words and acts of inspiration it needs ? The brain is effected by the things you expose it to. There are inspirational works of art, literature, human stories of kindness and bravery and heroism everywhere..these things stir our hearts, renew our faith and can many times inspire us to be something better than we are. Look, seek out inspiration in everything, take a walk, visit a garden, spend time with a child, a pet, or a friend and let waves of positive inspiration engulf you. It will feed you in ways you may feel empty.

 A final thought

These ideas are my own, based on what has helped me in my experiences. I am no doctor, I only  try to be a student in life and these ideas have helped me and so I share them. All of these exercises are geared toward taking you beyond where you are, outside of yourself and to find a higher purpose hopefully. When we do these things, we find happiness a far less elusive entity, and those we wish to love us, will gravitate towards our loving light and be inspired by us..and that heals us all, from the inside out..I share these things with the understanding that there are no "easy answers", but there are some answers, and that is the important thing and that is what inspires me, to search for them.

Recognizing personality disorders in your family: Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Image via Wikipedia Personality disorders are largely responsible for most of the relationship problems in families. Most all personality disorders stem from a long lineage of childhood abuse and/or neglect. Understanding some of the signs that are classic symptoms of personality disorders can be a way for loved ones to isolate the problems, and possibly seek treatment for them.  One such personality disorder is NPD, or Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  This list gives a run down of some of the traits associated with this specific disorder: A tendency to disregard or downplay other peoples trauma or feelings. Constantly shifting focus or conversation back on their personal experiences instead. A failure to validate other peoples feelings. A tendency to smother those around them, not because they “love” them so much, but because they need the reassurance for themselves. Addicted to the “feeling” of being loved, and constantly forcing situations and events that are nega

There is no such thing as a "Cool" parent

Image via Wikipedia I don't care whether you go to all your kids baseball games, volunteer to go on every field trip or let your kids and their friends have parties at your house. You will never be a "cool" parent. Well, not cool in their eyes . So if your motivation behind everything you do is for that title, you are wasting your time. Children have a code in their DNA , that will not allow for you to be acknowledged as anything other than someone they must put up with. In their case, DNA means Do not allow. They will not allow us to be so cool and while we are trying to very hard to be the cool parent they will inevitably do something to make us change our hat and have to be the authority figure we are supposed to be. Forever, we as parents are losing "cool points". No matter what your definition of "cool" is, it will not be theirs. In fact most acts we deem as "cool" are really considered embarrassing to your kids. Doubt me? Pick up y

Shifting your dependency off of others for your happiness

The Way to Happiness (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Happiness is not a given in this lifetime. It is something that has to be sought after, and it is often the ways we seek our happiness that determine how long and how successful our end results will be. People with mood disorders, depression and other personality issues become dependent on many external contributions to elevate their mood and happiness. When pills aren't getting you where you want to be.. This truth is, we all build up a tolerance to pills in some way or another. So what do we do then? Take stock in all the external factors that have been in your life of late. Have they been stressful, unsure, and negative? These things will come and go in life so pills will only carry you so far.  It is a good idea to talk your family doctor to rule out other contributing problems that may be affecting your mood, including having a thorough blood work up done to rule out low levels of iron, B12 etc. Sometimes there is an
